Aboriginal Student Support

We are committed to closing the achievement gap between Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal students through initiatives such as personalised learning plans.

Our teachers are focused on supporting Aboriginal students to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and to encourage attendance and further education.

Parents and/or caregivers are invited to participate in developing the plans and targets we set to achieve these outcomes.

Personalised Learning Plans
All Aboriginal students have a plan that focuses on their individual learning needs. We encourage you to be involved in developing and implementing a plan designed to help improve your child’s learning outcomes.

Schools in Partnership
This initiative aims to improve student literacy and numeracy, attendance and participation. We encourage parents and members of the community to get involved with the school’s advisory committee.

Student Leadership
Unique leadership opportunities encourage Aboriginal students to learn to negotiate and develop strategies which improve equity, fairness and the quality of school life for all students.

Celebrating Achievement
The annual Nanga Mai awards recognise the successes of high-achieving Aboriginal students.

Aboriginal Education Consultative Group
The Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) provides opportunities for Aboriginal people to be actively involved in making decisions that are relevant to Aboriginal education and training through a collaborative consultative process at a local and regional level throughout NSW. We encourage Aboriginal parents and community to get involved with the AECG.
